“Vira Do Tio Xico” is a folk group with roots in Minho. In Portugal, they dance and sing in hospitals and nursing homes to cheer up the elderly. They also fundraise for disadvantaged communities. On this trip, they wanted to visit Sri Lanka, Malacca, Daman, and Goa to interact with the local communities. A priest accompanied them to say Mass wherever they went. On this journey to the East, their goal was to interact and bring joy to everyone around them, leaving a bit of their culture and learning from others’ cultures.
